How do you get from the Staten Island Ferry, to the Metropolitan Museum of Art?

Please, I need directions and bus or train options.

The easiest way is to walk up Broadway to the Bowling Green station on the 4 or 5 train. Take an uptown 4 or 5 express train to 86 street. At 86 street head towards Central Park (5th Avenue). When you get to the park make a left and head to 82nd street. The museum will be right there. You can’t miss it.

Is the Metropolitan Museum in NYC the best place for studying medieval arms and armor?

If so, are there universities (like Columbia in NYC) that depend upon this museum in its academics regadring the studying of medieval arms and armor?

What about Georgetown University and the Smithsonian regarding medieval arms and armor?

Could anybody tell me about American universities that research and study medieval arms and armor?

A non-US school in Western Europe would definitely have more to offer.

What architectural style was the inspiration for the main hall of the metropolitan museum of art?

Frank Lloyd Wright

How do I get to the Metropolitan Museum of Art?

…from the upper west side? I prefer to use only the subway, not the bus. Thanks!

The Met is on the east side on 5th and 82 street at the east side of Central Park. There are no subways that go across town through central park. Only buses. If you take a subway from the west side you’ll have an annoying ride with transfers to at least 3 different subways…and when you finally get on the #6 train you’ll still have to walk a few blocks when you get off. Take a cab.

What are some good exibits at the Metropolitan Museum of Art?

I’m going to NYC later this month and I’m going to the Met. What are the best I can go to in the hour and a half I have?

My very favorite thing at the Metropolitan is the Gubbio Studio. It’s a fifteenth century library in a duke’s palace. As you walk into this room, you see cabinets, closets, bookcases filled with books, musical instruments, scientific instruments, all made of little pieces of inlaid wood. You are not going to believe it when you get close – it’s flat! This should take your breath away – I can’t describe it. And the museum hardly advertises it. It’s on the first floor, north of the medieval sculpture court.

Next favorite are the weapons and armor:

And, I always love to look at the costume exhibits

How do I get from Grand Central Station to the Metropolitan Museum of Art?

I was advised to take"Grand Central and the uptown #4, 5 or 6 to 86th street and then walk the rest" I don’t understand what the uptown 4, 5, 6 are. How do I get on these lines? Are they in Grand Central?

Yes, the #4, 5, and 6 are subway lines that stop at Grand Central Terminal (42nd Street and Lexington Avenue). These lines go either uptown (higher street numbers) or downtown (lower street numbers). You need to take the uptown 4, 5 or 6 train to go to 86th Street.

How much is a ticket to the Metropolitan Museum of Art?

It’s not general. It is Suggested Admission for both MET and Cloisters Museum.

How much is the whole Metropolitan Museum of Art "Seminars in Art" series worth?

My former art teacher recently gave the whole 24 book set, and I would like to know how much they’re worth. I’ve tried researching them myself and I’ve come up with rough figures, but I would like an educated approximation.

Only a couple of them look distressed on the spines, and they are in otherwise wonderful condition, and I do not believe that they are missing any of their color plates/images.

found 2 24 volume sets for sale although the product description seems the same as many others on the site for a 12 portfolio set – hopefully this will help
