Learning German?
Ok im 16 and i live in ireland(im australian though) and my plan is when i finish high school in 2 years time that i will move to germany (its easy enough to do so because i have eu citizenship) my parents will go there as well.Since ill be doing university in german i plan on studying the language hard for the next two years and then when i get over to germany i will take a year out (i was going to do this anyway) and go to the goethe institute and immerse myself in the culture . Do you think i could be fluent after all this?
to the first answerer wtf are you on??? this is just a plan so i can be fluent at german
my parents will be learning german too so i will be trying to speak it at home as well
yeah rowdy ive noticed on my previous trips to germany that the women are HOT
lol
Definately the way to go, i learned my german from LIVING there and emersing myself in it. Yes you can become fluent, it may take some time it all depends on your learning skills. It took me about 4 months to really start speaking it and then it just got better and better.
Im not fluent anymore not haveing lived there in many years not but i still speak it very well.
(Yes the German woman are very beautiful, I have dated two in my life and almost married one)
is the Goethe institute in Weimar? That is where she lived and where I lived and learned.
good luck!! and Viel Spass…or much fun!
Backpacking in Germany in one week!?
Hallo. Can you give me some tips on backpacking in Germany?
The following is my friend’s current plan of traveling:
Frankfurt Airport
Darmstadt
Eberbach Reichelsheim Odenwald
Heidelberg
Neckarsteinach
Neckarzimmern
Bad Wimpfen
Heilbronn
Schwäbisch Hall
Nuremberg
Ansbach
Rothenburg ob der Tauber
Wuerzburg
Goethe Institute
However, it just came to me that these places are close to Goethe Institute (where she will be studying for the summer) so that means during weekends she can just as well visit them. So would you suggest that stay the same or go visit somewhere far (before school begins?) She will arrive 6/1 and must get to Goethe Institute by 6/8 so it’s an entire week. What do you think?
Any tips on transportation, housing, and any other low budget means of touring I should learn? Safety? (One girl traveling alone)
Danke sehr.
For a girl or guy traveling alone I would advice hostels.
And for a week not more than 3 cities at most.
Just trowing a dart at a map of Germany will give you a good start, as most of the country is well worth visiting.
As she will be traveling with all the things she needs for her stay in Germany, I wonder if traveling around will be a good idea.
I would go for a stay in one city and do day trips from there. Maybe Frankfurt as that is the place where she will come in.
For basic safety information, behave like you would in the big city near where you live, as in, do not go in the park at night, do not go home with people you have just met, do not get drunk unless you are with people you can trust (hard when traveling alone.)
Specific when traveling, do not leave your luggage unattended and take it with you at all times unless it is safe in a locker or hotelroom.
Keep your passport and bank card safe.
More tips for safe traveling, for girls alone are in the answers to this question: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AhUnNvNfAztL9Yrreaw8FuTty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20090518005518AAeY2fK&show=7#profile-info-umcNebJ3aa
Home in Frankfurt, Germany ?
Hi,
I’m planning to be in Frankfurt for 10 weeks. ( For "Sprachdiplomkurs von Goethe Institute )
But I need a hause/studio for rent in the city.
Is it possible ? How much ?
Could you please help me pls ?
Thanks / Vielen Dank ![]()
I took a course at that Goethe Institut last year while I was living in Frankfurt.
It is in a nice part of town, right across from the Sudbanhof. It is walkable from a lot of areas in Sachsenhausen. If it is only 10 weeks I’d think it’d be hard to find a place through traditional routes. My suggestion is to check into a Yahoo! group that I found extremely helpful. It is called Frankfurt in Motion. If you search that in Yahoo groups and join you can post a message there. It is mostly ExPats who are members- and there are several hundred people on the list. Frequently, they post rooms available for rent. However, you can also post a message up there letting them know when you’re looking for a room and tell them you’re especially interested in something near the Sudbahnhof, or probably something Near the U 1,2, or 3 lines, which run directly to the Sudbanhof. I’ll bet that you will get several emails from people. The Expat community is always coming and going- so it is highly likely that someone will have an extra room they’d be happy to rent. Good luck and let me know if you need any further info!
Best way to learn German?
Which of these options is the best way to learn German
Through the Goethe institute basic level is 500$
Or through levels of the Rosetta stone.
would like to be somewhat fluent.
I think you would get lot out of Goethe (I have not used it though, I have only heard about it)
But I really Rosetta Stone (I’m using it for Spanish and hope to get it for German later).
Rosetta Stone is about $250 to $300 for the first two levels, which really have a lot of information in them. I think I first two levels have about 300 hours or more of work in them, so they will keep you busy!!
I think both Goethe and Rosetta Stone are very good, so I guess it depends on how much you want to spend.
Good luck with your decision what ever it might be, German is a fun language, so… have fun with it! ![]()
I hope I helped
Please explain to me what Grundstufe III level in German means.?
In terms of the courses conducted by the Goethe institute(Max Mueller Bhavan, Mumbai), which level does it coorrespond to?
How much time will it take of home study to reach this level for a total beginner.
I’ll point you in that direction. You need to walk there yourself. It’s OK, you can use your fingers on the keyboard.

anybody, is there anyone who is interested in Russian?
Hey everybody!
I am very keen on learning Russian. On the one hand I want to speak the language properly on the other hand I want to have a valid certificate showing that I can speak Russian. I wonder if there is any institution which is world wide known such as if you want to learn German, Goethe Institute is the best choice likewise for Spanish it is Cervantes.
So could you please suggest me somewhere to learn Russian and to have a valid certificate, by the way I live in Turkey.
Go to Russian thats the best way …. it one of the hardest language i used to live in Russian

Learn German in Germany, which school?
I’d like to learn German in Germany through an immersion program. I’ve looked into the Goethe Institute and am leaning in this direction. What are your thoughts concerning it? Can you recommend other comparable schools in quality to the Goethe Institute? I’m open to any location in Germany – Berlin, Dresden, Hamburg, Frankfurt, etc. Thanks!
Why do you think that the Goethe Institute is the best place? Have you heard good reviews? I’m serious thinking of doing the one in Hamburg. I’ve been to Berlin, Frankfurt, and Munich and I thought this would be a good way to see Hamburg while learning a little German.
You can learn deutsch in the centric district of Penzlauer Berg….
It’s in Berlin!
I am from Erfurt!…and my english is poor and bad!
