Relative Rates?
Hi I have a few problems I’m working on that I would like some \
1.A large spherical snowball is melting at the rate of 2pift^3/h. At the moment when it is 30 inches in diameter, determine:
a)how fast the radius is changing
b)how fast the diameter is changing
c) how fast the surface area is changing
I think I solved for surface area I’m not really sure if I’m doing these right so please correct me…I know dS/dt=-2pift^3/h
and x=30 inches radius is r diameter is x=2r r=(1/2)x
dS/dt=dS/dx * dx/dt => dx/dt=-2pi/(2pix)
x=30 so dx/dt=-2pi/(2pix)=-2pi/60pi=-pi/30pi so rate of decrease is pi/30pi
A girl is 5ft tall is running at the rate of 12ft/s and passes under a street light 20ft above the ground.
a)Find how rapidly the tip of her shadow is when she is 20 feet past the street light and
b) find how rapidly the length of the girl’s shadow is increasing at moment (a)
For a) dx/dt=12ft/s
d/dt(x+y)=?
20/5=(x+y)/y
20y=5x+5y
y=1/3x
d/dt(x+y)=d/dt(x+1/3x)
I’m stuck
You should not be "stuck" on the 2nd…you have everything you need….find d[x+y]/dt and dy/dt…you found x+y = [4/3] x and dx/dt = 12…..16? and dy/dt = [1/3] dx/dt……4?
In the 1st you have the incorrect formula for surface area….V = [4/3] pi r^3, SA = 4 pi r^2…given dV/dt = -2 pi and d= 2r…your concepts are in working the problem are excellent…Now rework your question and have a good day

HELP!!!!! I NEED UR ADVICE AGAIN! cause now i really like both and the girl with a bf might dump him for me and the girl tht kissed me yesterday might ask me out any second?! WAT TO DO!!!!! :-\ i hate dissicions
Dang you have it hard. But in your heart you can tell which one you like more. There will be something about one of the girls you like more than you like about the other girl. No one can tell you which one to chose you have to figure it out on your own. Yes it will be hard but you will figure it out in the end. Trust me i was stuck in a situation like that before and I was heart braken trying to figure out who i liked more. Good luck!!!! i hope this advise helped.

Urgent question plz help guys? :D really need your help :(?
Right guys, hi, I’m \/::/\.
Right, I was walking down the street guys, right, got that? Yeah good, and then, right, I saw a guy I used to know. And he said ‘Hi \/::/\, long time no see
’ But this confused me because it was an odd thing to say (or is it just me? :S) so I ran away from him, right, and he began chasing me. Then, right, I fell over like, this banana skin, right, and I hurt my knee, right, but I kept going. And I passed this Chinese grandma y’a know and she had like a basket on her head and she said to me ‘Hi /\::\/’ and I thought to myself, like, ‘Wow, someone I can finally relate to’ and this made me
.
So my question is how many licks does it take to get to the centre of a lollipop?
Well, right, like I sort of find it hard to like, sence anything, right.
dodgernan that like reminds me fo this: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Avn5SNXUMjdJE5phNqHnT_nty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20090815070432AAiAkDy&show=7#profile-info-pMT6jQg7aa I answered it earnestly, right, but I didn’t like get the best answer which made me like this: ![]()
OH yeah guys I sort of just like remembered that like Fourier polynomials can be interpreted as the characters of U(1), the group of complex numbers of absolute value 1, acting on the L2-space of periodic functions.
or rather the L^2 space
